Accounting Assistant

Position Summary

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for properly recording cash receipts from a multitude of sources and preparation of billing for underwriting, tenants, radio, etc..

Position Accountabilities

1. Records daily cash

- Enters daily cash utilizing deposit software

- Updates accounts receivable subsidiary ledger

- Photocopy checks and backup for distribution to various departments

- Prepare daily cash receipts cover sheet for each day's batch

2. Billing and accounts receivable

- Prepares invoices utilizing billing software

- Enter credit/debit memos in billing software

- Distribute aged accoutns receivable reports to departments - twice per month (semi-monthly after A/R close)

- Photocopy and mail Statements of Account

3. Perform other essential duties as required

- Filing - as needed by the department (e.g. A/R invoices filed in alpha order per fiscal year, A/P checks, etc.).

- Prepare Bank deposit every Friday afternoon

- Miscelleneous duties as assigned.

 

Position Requirements

1. Strong background in Accounts Receivable

2. Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, theory and practices.

3. Demonstrated expereince with accounting software and understands the flow of information from the subsidiary ledger to the general ledger and its impact.

4. Experience with spreadsheet and word processing software desired, such as Microsoft Excel and Word.

5. Ability to effectively and diplomatically communicate with a variety of individuals and organizations.

6. Good writing skills.

7. Excellent organizational and strong attention to detail skills.

8. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
